Hotel de Londres is your hotel if you enjoy both staying at hotels with amazing sea views, and also with history. Both items do come however at a price, especially during the high season.
Sea-view rooms are definitely worth the price difference. Rooms on the seventh floor are probably the best option if budget is not a problem since they offer very large terraces.
The Mata Hari suite, named after its most famous visitor, is usually booked: nostalgia and glamour always come at a price!
Bear in mind that the hotel does not offer a swimming pool nor a fitness center. If these items are important for you other options (see below) could make more sense for you.
The hotel de Londres y de Inglaterra is not the most luxurious option in San Sebastian nor the hotel with more services. You can also explore Mount Urgull, a popular hiking spot for tourists where there is also a castle. It can be reached in about 20 minutes by bus from the hotel. Donostia train and bus station is less than 10 minutes away by car, and San Sebastian’s small domestic airport is about a 30-minute drive. The international airport in Bilbao is just over an hour’s drive away.

What you get in location, you lose somewhat in comforts. Rooms are clean and well-kept, but small, and lack some amenities.
All rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV, an armchair, and most have a work desk, none have safes or mini-fridges, though.
Room sizes range from matchbox-sized rooms with a single bed to a room that can comfortably fit two in a queen bed, but it’s important to note that some of the doubles have two twin beds pushed together rather than one big bed. Wi-Fi is free in rooms, as it is in the rest of the hotel.
In terms of views, beach-facing rooms have fantastic ocean views and some even have their own balcony but don’t have air-conditioning, but the rooms that face the street on the other side of the hotel have to air-condition. So, pick your poison.
Bathrooms are simple, but more modern than other parts of the hotel, and have a full selection of toiletries as well as a hairdryer.
