The Pestana Plaza Mayor hotel has it almost all. A rare combination of a truly historic building, impressive location, chic design, and special features like a rooftop terrace pool speak for themselves.
This is one of the most unique hotels where you can stay in Madrid, that is for sure. The feeling of opening a French window and stepping out to the small balcony that offers views to the Plaza Mayor is a fantastic experience (though rooms to the courtyard are quieter).
This is a very romantic option in Madrid which would be perfect for you if you enjoy hotels at unique locations and historical buildings. If you would rather consider a lower budget but would not like to sacrifice on location nor building, you may want to consider the Rui Plaza de España. It does not provide the same charm, but also boasts a rooftop pool, offers a great location, and at a historical building in Madrid.
The Pestana Plaza Mayor offers reasonable value for money. Location and design both come always at a price.

Chueca is one of the coolest districts in Madrid. Chueca is Madrid gay district and it boasts a good number of design shops, bars and restaurants. At Chueca you will find old couples that have always lived in the “barrio” having a walk with their grandsons, along with gay couples that live in Chueca or are on a visit trip. The gay community helped a lot in revitalizing Chueca and today you can find art galleries and boutique shops. Chueca is a great place to explore new restaurants in Madrid too.
Chueca is a great area to enjoy Madrid since it is very close to most of the city attractions, but also due to its character. In case you would prefer to stay in a quieter district with the local atmosphere you may need to opt for Barrio Salamanca, a more traditional and upmarket area of Madrid.

The Hotel Riu Plaza de España sits at one of Madrid´s most emblematic buildings, El Edificio España. This hotel has been recently renovated and offers a great location, an outdoor seasonal pool, and a good value for a middle-upper hotel.
Rooms are spacious and comfortable and the pool contributes to the overall value of the hotel. This is for sure not the most charming hotel in Madrid, nor the one that offers the best services. But all in all, and bearing value for money into the account, the Riu Plaza de España, is a very smart choice to enjoy the city.

Modern atmosphere, reasonable value for money and good location are the hotel´s top arguments. You may lack some services you may expect from hotels located outside of the city heart (like a gym or a pool)

Rooms that overlook the always busy Plaza de Santa Barbara cannot be described as noisy, but if you enjoy silence you may better opt for rooms not on this part of the hotel due to the bars and lively atmosphere in the area.

We cannot say that it is our favorite hotel in the city if we look at individual items like rooms, building, or services, but when all is put together, few hotels offer the same combination of excellent location, quality rooms, top quality breakfast and the views of its amazing roof-top terrace.
In case you enjoy high-tech hotels this may not be for you though.

As it is the case for the smaller NH Collection Eurobuilding hotel, the Melia Castilla hotel is located far from the city´s top attractions. This hotel is mainly thought for business travelers, but in case you do not mind being far from the historical heart of the city and you enjoy very large hotels with many services, the Melia Castilla can be an interesting option for you. In low business season or during weekends it may be possible to get good deals (though the proximity to the Bernabeu stadium attracts soccer fans from all over Spain).
Despite not being close to the Prado museum, Plaza Mayor, etc. these attractions can be reached by taxi in 15 minutes. Madrid is not a huge city after all.

The NH Collection Madrid Eurobuilding hotel is placed at a 15 story grey modern building. This defines the personality and character of the hotel, which is designed for business travelers mainly.
Having said this, and if you enjoy large hotels with great comfort, the NH Collection Eurobuilding offers very good value for money on certain occasions, and it has a perfect location if one of your main targets in Madrid is to visit the Bernabeu stadium. With different metro stations close, and a very easy access to the Castellana where buses take you in 10 minutes to the Prado museum and tourist center of Madrid, the Eurobuildings can very well suit the tourist traveler who enjoys large rooms and all the conveniences and services of large hotels. It can also be a very good option for families and groups of friends.
