The Principal hotel in Madrid features amazing views of Madrid’s Gran Via from its elegant rooftop terrace and its restaurant and cocktail bar.
The hotel sits at a fantastic building from 1917 with art-deco inspirations.

The hotel restaurant, Ático, maintains the original elegant architecture from 1917 and enjoys amazing views of the city. The restaurant offers a modern fine dining experience and a wide variety of classic cocktails in a laid-back environment.
The rooftop terrace offers fantastic views of Gran Via and this area of Madrid. This is the perfect spot to to relax with a drink.
Location
The hotel is located in the heart of Madrid, surrounded by many interesting places to visit, shop, etc, etc. The Principal is located in front of the Bank of Spain (which boasts one of the most impressive buildings in the city). The City Hall is also located at less than 5 minutes walk. The Metro station Banco de España is very close to the hotel.
The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, Retiro park, Prado museum or Puerta del Sol are just 400 meters away!
Overall Review
The Principal hotel is with no doubt one of the most exclusive options to visit Madrid. The hotel is perfect for a romantic getaway in the city. You will love the Principal if you do not want to sacrifice on location during your trip to Madrid. If you are a foodie, the hotel has one of the best restaurants in the city and you will be able to enjoy amazing views from the roof-top terrace.
One of the things you mayu miss at the Principal hotel is a pool. It is not easy to find hotels with this sort of location and a pool. If a pool is very important for you, you may want to consider the Urban hotel (in this case you will need to sacrifice the historic building and embark on minimalism) or the also perfectly located Hospes Puerta de Alcala which faces the Retiro park.
