Hotel Room Mate Alba – Review

The Room Mate Alba is a perfect hotel to enjoy Madrid. The hotel is located at a beautiful building, which connects with the district of the city in which it is located. The decoration is chic, stylish and well-thought to ensure you feel comfortable, but also that you get a local feeling.

Standard rooms are of mid-size, but superior rooms are spacious and typically offer a balcony, which is a great benefit to enjoy the beat of the Barrio de las Letras.

The decoration is warm and makes you feel at home. Wood is used for the floors and tiles, typical from the central part of Spain are used in bathrooms, which are spacious and with large showers.

The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are quiet despite being located in a lively part of the city.

The hotel is loated at the heart of the Barrio de las Letras. You will not feel you are in the touristic areas of Gran Via or Puerta del Sol, but in a part of the city where locals go to meet friends and enjoy tapas. Having said this, the main tourist attractions are at less than 10 minutes walk.

The hotel is located just 800 meters from La Puerta del Sol and less than 1km from the San Miguel Market and features an excellent solarium.

The Plaza Mayor, the Reina Sofía museum and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museum are near the hotel. The Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas is the nearest airport, 25 km away.

The hotel offers 24-hour front desk service, concierge service, a tourist information point, ticket purchasing services, and luggage storage.

Every morning the hotel serves a buffet-style breakfast.

Overall Review

This is a perfect hotel for couples seeking a romantic stay in Madrid. The hotel may not be for you if you enjoy large hotels with a gym, spa and lots of common areas. The Room mate Alba is more of a boutique hotel with character. The hotel has no parking, something to bear in mind if you are on a road-trip, and it may not be the most suitable hotel for children either.

Otherwise, a great choice, specially for couples.
