Hotel Urban – Review
The Urban is a boutique hotel at the heart of Madrid. It serves as home to a permanent art collection from Papua New Guinea. The hotel also features a small rooftop pool with a terrace and cocktail bar and a full gym.
Services
The hotel is also home to CEBO, a Michelin star restaurant run by chef Aurelio Morales.
The hotel is beautifully decorated with natural wood and stone accents and oriental artwork.
Rooms
All rooms are soundproof and are equipped with free internet, flat-screen satellite TV and a DVD player.
Rooms, even standard, are large, and offer an overall relaxing experience, with cool decoration and very comfortable beds. Bathrooms have glass walls, something that may not please all tastes.
Location
The Thyssen-Bornemisza galery is just 200 meters from the hotel and the Puerta del sol is 300 meters away.
Overall review
The Urban hotel was an icon of a revolution of hotels in Madrid. The hotel brought new ideas and a new concept for luxury to the city.
This hotel is for you if you enjoy luxury accommodation and do not want to sacrifice location. Both elements, however, come at a price. The Urban hotel may not be for you in case you prefer hotels with a personality that connects to the city and which are located at restored classical or historical buildings. This is not such a hotel, but unless you are not concerned about this, nor about budget, the Urban is for sure a great option.
The top highlights of the hotel are the pool and rooftop terrace. The pool is small, not really to swim but rather more to relax and get a refreshing bath.
