Hotel Pazo de Altamira – Review
Located at less than 5 minutes walk from the Cathedral of Santiago, the hotel Pazo de Altamira is a small boutique hotel set in a historic building but with s stylish, bright and minimalist interior decoration.
This hotel belonged to the Counts of Altamira and the manor encompassed what is today the Abastos square and the famous food Abastos market.
Rooms
There are 16 rooms at Hotel Pazo de Altamira. They are all lightful, decorated with pastel tones, and enjoy wooden floors. The bathrooms are also spacious and with marble-like decoration.
Some of the rooms offer views of the Mercado de Abastos whilst others are located on the back of the building (maybe a better option if you are a very light sleeper)
Superior rooms include traditional galerias (balconies). Room 301 offers a view of the market from the bathroom.
Families can enjoy extra beds at an additional cost.
Services
There is a small but relaxing tv room and reading or games room. Looking inside the hotel it is difficult to believe a medieval manor once stood here!
The breakfast is exceptional and the hotel also boasts an excellent restaurant (the fact it is so close to the Abastos market may help!)
Overall Review
A perfect choice to enjoy Santiago de Compostela walking. The Pazo de Altamira will be perfect for you if you enjoy staying at historical buildings that have been adapted to bring the comfort of modern life.
The hotel has stylish decor but you should not expect luxury nor ultra-design elements. The charm of the building remains, and rooms boast wooden floors and a pastel color palette.
You will be close to everything, enjoy a historical building, the comfort of modern design, and one of the best breakfasts in Santiago de Compostela. All this at a great value for money. You can find more ideas to plan your visit in our Santiago de Compostela travel guide.
