The Catalonia Las Cortes is housed within a beautiful XVIII century building, 10 minutes from the Prado museum. The hotel has 65 rooms, decorated with parquet floor and antique style fursnishings.
All rooms are classically decorated and are equipped with air conditioning, free WIFI, and flat-screen satellite TV. The superior rooms and the suites feature antique furniture and authentic frescos on the ceiling. They also are equipped with a Nespresso® coffee maker, an electric tea kettle, and complimentary water.
The hotel restaurant specializes in international cuisine. The hotel also offers complimentary aperitifs, sandwiches, salads, pastries, and drinks from 13:00 to 23:00 from Monday through Friday and from 14:00 to 23:00 during the weekend.
The Catalonia Las Cortes is located in the Barrio de las Letras neighborhood of Madrid 350 meters from the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum and 12 minutes on foot from the Reina Sofía Museum. Retiro Park is 15 minutes away on foot as well. The name of the hotel is connected to “Las Cortes” which is the way locals from Madrid refer to the House of Parlament of Spain.
The Catalonia Las Cortes hotel is a fantastic luxury hotel located at a XVIIth century palace. If you enjoy hotels at historical buildings, and with great location, this can be a very good option for you.
Do not expect however high-tech nor minimalist design here. This is a hotel where many of the original elements have been preserved and where decoration uses modern touches to provide a welcoming experience but without the aim to overshadow the building and its past. The fantastic parquet wood floors, the baroque stained glass windows, and other decoration elements are a tribute to the building’s past.
The hotel offers overall good value for money if we count on both its location and the overall quality of the premises.
